Our Latest World

As you might be able to tell from the list of links on the left, I'm not really too keen on wars as a topic of conversation. But using this page as somewhere to comment on current events, my attention keeps getting drawn to them. They seem to be the only current thing happening! Now that the Afghanistan thing is kinda winding down (with the exception of everyone seemingly ignoring the plights and needs of the people there... that's a whole other thing...) it appears Isreal is back to trying to claim some World attention.

It has succeeded, for sure.

In the name of stopping Terrorism, Isreal seems to be trying to follow on the recently popular post-Sept. 11th campaign by claiming it, too, is being attacked by these "same" terrorists, thereby justifying the massive military moves into another "country." In my honest opinion, they are wrong!

The "terrorists" creating the admittedly horrific acts in Isreal are members of a population who have been hounded, dislodged, pushed aside, and thoroughly terrorized themselves by Isreal throughout all of recent history. They are guerrilla fighters trying to get their home back!

And I, for one (among very many, I know), am very tired/frustrated/even enraged at the US policy towards Isreal. It's like they can do no wrong - they have somehow convinced so many generations of US policy makers of their "divine right" to "defend" their area (by taking over other areas around them), and we are turning a blind eye towards the plight of the Palestinians. The Whole World sees it... why can't the US?

I see a definite parallel between the Kuwait/Iraq situation of a few years ago and the Palesitine/Isreal conflict today. One country invading another without regard to civilian life or habits, all in the name of some grander, but false, cause.

The biggest problem with this parallelism is... the US is on the wrong side!
